Marilyn Kershner

Florida Green Building Coalition

Marilyn Kershner is an affordable housing consultant and a Florida attorney specializing in nonprofit corporate and tax law. From 2005 to 2007, she coordinated the new green affordable housing program launched by the Florida Community Loan Fund, in partnership with the Florida Green Building Coalition, the Florida Solar Energy Center and Enterprise Community Partners. The goal of this affordable housing initiative is to provide grants and favorably-priced financing, training and technical assistance to developers of affordable single-family, rental and supportive housing who agree to adopt the Enterprise Green Communities™ (www.greencommunitiesonline.org) Criteria or the Green Home standard of the Florida Green Building Coalition (www.floridagreenbuilding.org).These “green-building” strategies, when incorporated into residential structures (new construction or moderate rehab), promote health, the conservation of natural resources, energy efficiency and a reduction in transportation impacts. Ms. Kershner was recently elected to the board of directors of the Florida Green Building Coalition and serves as chair of its Green Affordable Housing Committee.
