Marty Wanielista 

Marty Wanielista is Director of the Stormwater Management Academy and Professor of Engineering, a Pegasus Professor and Professor Emeritus at the University of Central Florida. He has been at UCF for 37 years. He has a Civil Engineering degree from the University of Detroit, a Masters from Manhattan College and a Ph.D. in Environmental Systems from Cornell University. He has completed more than 70 research projects in the areas of hydrology and stormwater, and is currently working on eight projects. He has more than 250 publications, including seven textbooks. He was very active in the new stormwater lab and helped formulate policies for stormwater management in the state of Florida. He has been identified as the "grandfather of stormwater management" and credited with introducing green roofs to the state as a stormwater management alternative. He is very active in promoting stewardship of sustainable water resources by promoting pervious pavement and the reuse of stormwater.
