Brett Cunningham

Director of Water Resources, Jones Edmunds and Associates

Brett began his carerr at the University of Florida, where he received a B.S. in Environmental Engineering in 1985  and an M.E. in 1987. While at UF, he began to co-author the Environmental Protection Agency's Stormwater Management Model. Brett now has more than 20 years of stormwater management and water resources experience and currently serves as Director of Water Resources for Jones Edmunds and Associates. He has managed several important projects for Sarasota County, including a stormwater design review of its Land Development Review Program. This collaboration has led to increased efficiencies of reviews through creation of development review software and a stormwater manual that will be part of the county's land development regulations.

Another important project that Brett managed is the county's pollutant loading model. The first phase of this project led to the development of the Spatially Integrated Model for Pollutant Loading Estimates. This model brough previous pollutant loading model efforts into a GIS framework, developed important GIS datasets, and fulfilled NPDES requirements. The second phase of this ongoing project is being used to monitor the county's watersheds to calibrate the model, enhance its functionality and further develop GIS datasets.

Brett is also helping to develop the water management plans for Roberts Bay and Lemon Bay.
